Some thoughts on my first brown

It really turned out to be maybe the best beer ever. A little too sweet, perhaps ...and maybe a little short on the alcohol ...but delicious and so beautifully balanced. Good head and sufficient carb.

I think it must have been the brown malt that helped counteract the hardness of the water ...something I've always been told.

Anyway, I'm brewing my second batch today with close attention to the mash temp. My hope is that this one will be a bit more attenuated, a little dryer and more bitter.

All in all, an excellent beer ...even in summertime.
