Woke up at 8am and got an early start ...but at 1pm, still haven't started boil.
Task: Four 20 liter batches of Viejo Retiro.
0.4 kg Melanoidin
2.5 kg Pale Ale
2.0 kg Pilsner
50 g Cascade
Irish Moss finings
Shooting for a full 20 liters of output and
1.059 OG, 1.016 FG, 5.54% abv, and bitterness of 37.74 IBU's.
This will be a relative hop fest for me
One batch with well water.
Divvied out malt by eyeball ...got to get a better method.
Hoist works great. Took almost an hour to drain with squeezing.
Added 6 liters to the boil ...a first; I really want that output! Some of the previous brews have been too strong.
Waiting for the boil ...hoping the volume will be there without being too thin.
Thinking that the boil should be easier to achieve with the smaller batch ...but the hour of straining the bag lost a lot of temp. It's almost an hour on the 2 burners and still no boil.
2pm: about 95°C and you can really smell the canned corn.
4pm: wort in the cube ...and another 20 liters on the boil.
FUCK. No finings for bidón #4! Oh, well. We'll see what that turns out like!
